Service Schedule

Typical service schedule (subject to change).

St. Stephen's holds services many times a week. Please consult The Witness for the most up to date and accurate service schedule. Generally our services include:

SUNDAY
9:00am - Matins (a short prayer service)
9:30am - Church School in annex (parents are welcome to bring their childern across the street to the annex for singing, lectionary based Gospel presentation --some sort of short skit, puppet show, or other highly visual presentation--, coloring, snacks, memory verses, Liturgy explanation, and Gospel lesson)
9:30am - Fr. Joel is available to hear confessions
10:00am - Divine Liturgy (The primary Sunday worship service. approx 1.5 hours long)
11:30am - Fellowship time.

MONDAY 7:00pm - Akathist An akathist (Greek, akathistos) is a hymn dedicated to a saint, holy event, or one of the persons of the Holy Trinity. (approx 30 minutes)

WEDNESDAY 6:30pmVespers (A midweek evening prayer service, often followed by Bible Study or Class) (approx 45 minutes long)

THURSDAY 7am or 9am (refer to The WitnessDivine Liturgy (An opportunity during the week to pray and worship)

SATURDAY 6:30pmGreat Vespers (An evenings prayer service in preparation for Divine Liturgy. Fr. Joel is available to hear confessions after the service)

9:10am - The Hours (a short preparation service)
9:30am - Divine Liturgy (The primary Sunday worship service. approx 1.5 hours long)

TUESDAY, APRIL 23

6:30pm - No service at St. Stephens. There will be a service of Holy Unction at Holy Transfiguration

THURSDAY, APRIL 25
10:00am – Holy Thursday Vesperal Liturgy
6:30pm - Matins & Reading of The Twelve Gospels of the Passion of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

FRIDAY, APRIL 26
8:00am – Royal Hours
4:00pm – Vespers (Service of the Cross. 1.5 hours)
7:00pm – Matins/Burial Service (1.5 hours) All Night Psalter Reading at
the Tomb

SATURDAY, APRIL 27
12:00am - Byzantine Lamentations
9:00am - Holy Saturday Liturgy (2 hours. 15 Old Testament Readings, 1 Epistle, and Gospel reading, & Eucharist)
10:30pm - Nocturns, Matins, and Liturgy for HOLY PASCHA! (Easter)

SUNDAY, APRIL 28
NO CHURCH (1am feast after Liturgy for HOLY PASCHA, which starts Saturday night)
